Servers, Storage, and Networking E-mail
At the heart of every computing facility are servers, storage, and networking. The Hoffman E-Commerce Lab maintains and supports various research and class projects with its servers and network. The following is an overview of the Hoffman E-Commerce Lab's hardware capabilities.

networking

Servers

  • (1) Quad-CPU PowerPC IBM P660 server, running VMWare Virtual Infrastructure 3, which is currently operating (8) virtual servers
  • (1) Quad-CPU Xeon IBM x445 server, running AIX 5L
  • (2) Quad-CPU Xeon HP Netservers, running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
  • (4) Dual-CPU Operon HP eSeries 325, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • (3) Dual-CPU Xeon Supermicro servers, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
  • (5) Pentium 4 Supermicro servers, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
  • (6) Other servers, running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

Storage

  • IBM FastT200 with 2 terabytes(TB) of data, expandable to 9.68 TB
  • IBM UltraScalable Tape Library managed using Tivoli Storage Manager

Network

  • 100Mb full duplex fiber connection to central campus computing
  • 100Gb server room infrastructure
  • Managed firewall network using Juniper Network Firewall (formerly Netscreen)
