MSDN AA update for MIS E-mail
Written by Administrator
As of this semester, we are piloting a new process to enroll MIS students into the MSDN Academic Alliance. First of all, if you are an undergraduate or graduate MIS major, you are already enrolled in MSDN AA.

Secondly, if you are a student in an MIS course, you are also eligible to enroll for the Microsoft software. Instructors may elect to bulk enroll their entire MIS class into MSDN AA by simply sending an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it For students in other MIS classes which have not been bulk enrolled, you can register using the Lab's online form (at the top, "Registration" link).

If you have any questions about MSDN AA, please see our MSDN AA FAQ.

How does this website look to you? Good, I hope... (UPDATE!!) E-mail
Written by Edwin Skidmore
It has been brought to my attention that the website may look horrible for users of Internet Explorer version 6 and earlier (IE7 and Firefox users should see the website just fine!). This is one of the disadvantages of designing websites for the latest browser technologies (and not having access to older browser versions). But, with 36.9% of the users on the internet still using IE6, I plan to fix this ASAP. Please let us know if you notice any other irregularities on our website.

In the meantime, you might consider either upgrading your PC with IE7 or using Mozilla Firefox.

Changes to the MSDNAA for MIS Students for Fall 2007 E-mail
Written by Administrator
This year all MIS undergraduate (official majors only) and MIS graduate students have automatic access to MSDN AA/Microsoft software. MSDN AA, the Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance, is a subscription, purchased by the MIS department and entitles all MIS faculty, staff, and employees to have access to a variety of Microsoft software, such as operating systems, applications, servers, and development tools. This is the first semester in which MIS majors will not need to explicitly register to participate.

Written by Edwin Skidmore
I hope everyone had a great summer! The lab is entering its final phase of preparation for the fall. This also means that at this time the Hoffman E-Commerce Lab is accepting any last-minute requests for services, hosting or software installation for its facility. The lab is a resource for the entire Eller College of Management!

If you are curious about what the lab can offer, feel free to browse the "Services" section of the website or you can call me at 626-8923 to talk.

Thank you,
Edwin Skidmore

Welcome to the Hoffman E-Commerce Lab's New Website! E-mail
Written by Edwin Skidmore
Fall 2007 is almost upon us, and to help launch another great year of high-end technology services for the Eller College of Management, I have not only redesigned the Hoffman E-commerce Lab's website, but have also implemented a new content management system (CMS). What is the new CMS? After evaluating the field of content management systems, I selected Joomla! (yes, the exclamation mark is part of the name), a free and open-source software (FOSS), based on LAMP (Linux, Apache, Mysql, and PHP). The benefits for using Joomla! are enormous and multi-faceted. I will share a few of the important benefits with you.
